Ciaron Brown scored twice and Isaac Price added the other goal in a major result for Michael O’Neill’s side, according to the Irish Football Association.
Northern Ireland have seven points from three matches, with three clean sheets and a three-point lead at the top of Group B2.
Brown delivers a decisive first
Brown opened the scoring in the ninth minute after Trai Hume’s corner created danger in the Ukrainian penalty area.
Price doubled the lead in the 22nd minute. He headed in Kieran Morrison’s cross to put Northern Ireland firmly in control.
Brown completed the scoring just after the hour. He flicked on Pierce Charles’ free-kick, and the ball went through goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk before crossing the line.
The two goals were Brown’s first for Northern Ireland, the Irish Football Association reported.
Three matches, three clean sheets
Northern Ireland had less possession than Ukraine but protected another clean sheet. The Irish Football Association said it was the team’s third shutout in three Group B2 matches.
UEFA’s official results list confirms the 3-0 score and Northern Ireland’s position at the top of the group.

Around 700 Northern Ireland supporters travelled to Slovakia, according to the Irish Football Association. They saw an organised away performance built on quick counter-attacks and disciplined defending.
The victory strengthens Northern Ireland’s promotion hopes, but the group is still open with three matches remaining.
The next fixture is against Georgia at Windsor Park on Monday, October 5. Northern Ireland then travel to Ukraine on November 14 before facing Hungary away on November 17.
