UEFA named Betano an official sponsor of UEFA EURO 2028 on October 7, 2026. The deal gives Kaizen Gaming’s betting brand a major commercial route into football audiences across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The tournament will run from June 9 to July 9, 2028, across nine stadiums in eight cities. For Britain’s regulated betting market, the key question is clear: when does tournament visibility become advertising subject to strict safeguards?

A global deal with a British regulatory angle

UEFA said the agreement extends Betano’s relationship with European football. The brand sponsored UEFA EURO 2024 and has been the global sponsor of the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League since the 2024/25 season.

Betano is not an unlicensed brand operating outside Britain’s regulatory system. The Gambling Commission’s public register lists BV Gaming Limited as holding an active remote general betting standard licence for real events. Its trading-name register lists betano as active.

That status matters in Great Britain. It does not create one gambling framework for the entire tournament. Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland operate under separate arrangements, while UEFA’s event will span the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Where sponsorship becomes advertising

The sponsorship contract is not automatically treated like every advert published by a betting operator. The Advertising Standards Authority says the United Kingdom’s advertising codes apply to communications connected with sponsorship, including press adverts, posters, websites and social media posts.

That distinction could become important as Euro 2028 marketing develops. A stadium presence or official partnership may fall outside parts of the advertising code. A Betano campaign using tournament imagery, football personalities or promotional claims can still fall within it.

  • Gambling marketing must be socially responsible.
  • Operators must follow the CAP and BCAP advertising codes.
  • Advertising must not have strong appeal to under-18s.
  • People who are, or appear to be, under 25 face strict limits in gambling marketing.

The Gambling Commission’s licence conditions make compliance with the advertising codes a condition of holding a licence. A breach can lead to regulatory action, including a review of the operator’s licence.

Football brings extra scrutiny

Football has strong appeal to children and young people. The Advertising Standards Authority has warned that using a club or tournament logo can become problematic when it creates more than a simple reference to the subject of a bet.

In June 2026 guidance, the Advertising Standards Authority said a sponsor’s advertising content must still comply with the CAP Code. It also pointed to a 2025 ruling involving Chelsea’s logo. Repeated branding across fan clothing, stadium displays and promotional material was judged to go beyond a permitted reference.

The issue is not limited to broadcast commercials. Digital campaigns, social posts and fan-facing promotions can also bring the sponsorship under closer scrutiny, especially where young audiences are difficult to exclude.

What changes before 2028

Nothing in UEFA’s announcement changes Britain’s gambling law or Betano’s licence conditions. The immediate change is commercial visibility. The regulatory test will arrive as the partnership becomes campaigns, content and matchday activity.

Operators, football bodies and broadcasters will need to separate brand presence from inducement advertising. They must also ensure that tournament-related promotions do not mislead consumers, hide significant terms or use creative material with strong appeal to under-18s.

Euro 2028 will test more than sponsorship value. It will show whether a major betting brand can sit at the centre of a British football event while staying within rules designed to keep gambling marketing away from children and vulnerable audiences.

UEFA has confirmed the partnership. The detailed advertising consequences will depend on how Betano and its partners use the brand before and during the tournament.
