Neil Banbury became managing director of Sky Betting and Gaming on October 1, 2026. He joins Flutter-owned Sky Betting and Gaming after more than 15 years at Kindred Group.

Banbury confirmed the appointment in a LinkedIn post reported by NEXT.io. His arrival comes as Britain’s regulated betting and gaming market faces higher taxes and tougher operating conditions.

A new senior operator is taking charge just as the cost of running online betting and gaming businesses is rising sharply.

A senior operator from Kindred

Banbury most recently served as Kindred’s chief commercial and marketing officer. He previously led Kindred’s UK business as general manager and held senior roles in strategy and planning.

His move places a UK market specialist inside one of Flutter’s best-known businesses. It also marks a leadership change after Banbury’s long career at an international competitor.

Why the timing matters

The UK tax timetable creates an immediate financial test for online operators. Remote Gaming Duty rose from 21% to 40% on April 1, 2026.

A new 25% remote betting duty is scheduled to begin on April 1, 2027. Remote bets on UK horse racing will remain subject to the existing 15% rate, according to the UK Government.

  • Remote casino and gaming products face the immediate tax increase.
  • Remote sports betting faces a separate duty change in April 2027.
  • Operators must balance pricing, product investment, compliance and safer gambling controls.

That makes Banbury’s remit broader than customer growth. Sky Betting and Gaming will also need to protect margins while meeting Britain’s licensing and consumer protection requirements.

Flutter’s UK portfolio

Flutter identifies Sky Bet as one of its leading UK and Ireland brands. Its Sky Gaming portfolio includes Sky Vegas, Sky Bingo, Sky Casino and Sky Poker.

Flutter says its brands operate with local autonomy while using the group’s technology, capital and operating scale. Banbury therefore takes charge of a business with substantial resources, but also with pressure to deliver more efficiently.

What comes next

Banbury’s first major test will be execution. The tax timetable is clear, but the commercial response is not.

Decisions on product mix, customer retention, safer gambling systems and operating costs will shape how Sky Betting and Gaming competes in Britain.

The appointment does not change the company’s licence position or create a new regulatory rule. It gives Flutter’s UK betting and gaming business a new senior operator as the market enters a more expensive and closely watched phase.
