PokerStars Sports Ends UK Betting: What Happens to Open Bets and Balances?
PokerStars Sports closes to UK customers on October 5, 2026. Separate notices explain open bets, withdrawals and access to other products.
PokerStars Sports will stop serving customers in the United Kingdom on October 5, 2026. The operator has warned that betting markets will shrink before the closure. That leaves customers checking three things: open bets, account balances and access to other PokerStars products.
What changes on October 5?
UK customers will no longer be able to place sports bets through PokerStars Sports from the closure date. Access through the mobile app will also end, according to PokerStars' Sports Exit FAQ.
The change applies to the sports betting product. It does not automatically mean that every PokerStars service will disappear on the same date.
PokerStars says its poker product remains unaffected in the Sports Exit FAQ. A separate UK migration notice describes wider changes involving Betfair. Customers should check the notice for every product they use.
The practical message is simple: sports betting ends on October 5, but withdrawals and some other services continue under separate arrangements.
What happens to open bets?
PokerStars' UK migration guidance says that all open bets will be voided and that affected customers will be contacted directly. Unsettled sports bets should not simply remain active until an event finishes.
The operator's general Sports Exit FAQ gives more detailed rules for customers outside Ireland. Open single bets on events that have not started will be voided, with stakes returned. For multiple bets, unsettled selections may be voided, while selections with known official results may be settled using revised odds.
The UK-specific guidance is the more relevant notice for UK customers. Customers should rely on direct account messages for the treatment of their individual bets.
Are customer balances safe?
PokerStars says balances remain safe and that customers may withdraw funds at any time. Customers should record their balance, save relevant BetIDs and keep account correspondence before access changes.
The wider UK migration notice says PokerStars UK will remain available for withdrawals after gameplay closes. It also says customers whose accounts cannot be transferred will still be able to withdraw any remaining balance.
- Check the account balance before the sports service closes.
- Review betting history and note any unsettled bets.
- Keep BetIDs and confirmation emails for disputed or delayed settlements.
- Contact PokerStars Support if a balance or refund does not appear.
Why the market reduction matters
The warning about fewer markets shows that the service is winding down rather than operating normally until the final moment. Customers may see fewer events, competitions or betting options before October 5, even while the sports page remains accessible during the transition.
The closure is separate from the Gambling Commission's licence register. The register listed PokerStars-related UK domains, including pokerstars.uk and pokerstarssports.uk, as active on September 25, 2026.
An active domain or licence entry does not mean that every product remains available to customers. Product availability and customer access can change through separate operator notices.
What UK customers should expect next
The immediate outcome is clear: PokerStars Sports betting ends in the UK on October 5, 2026. The key customer arrangements concern the return or settlement of affected bets, continued access to withdrawals and support for unresolved account issues.
Customers should not assume that the sports closure, the wider PokerStars UK migration and any future Betfair replacement follow identical rules. The operator describes separate arrangements for sports bets, balances, poker, casino access and account transfers.
