Daniel Dubois stopped Fabio Wardley in the second round at London’s The O2 on October 17, retaining his World Boxing Organization heavyweight title.

The referee ended the bout after two minutes and 21 seconds of round two, The Guardian reported. The O2 listed it as a heavyweight world championship bout.

A sharp contrast with May

The British heavyweights first met in May. Dubois stopped Wardley in the 11th round to win the title. This time, the rematch ended nine rounds sooner.

  • May: Dubois stopped Wardley in round 11 and won the title.
  • October 17: Dubois stopped Wardley 2:21 into round two and retained it.

Wardley, who held the championship before their first meeting, fell short in his bid to reclaim it. Dubois’s win counts as a successful title defence.

The rematch ended nine rounds sooner, with Dubois still champion.
